I passed the RAE in December 1981 and received my Amateur Radio licence and callsign June1982. I established my first station during the summer of 1982 in Tonbridge, Kent. The station at that time was VHF and, UHF only comprising of a Summerkamp TS280 FM 2M transceiver feeding into a 5 Element Jaybeam mounted on top of 10M high telescopic mast with a rotator, and a Yaesu FT 780 FM 70cm handheld transceiver.
In 1986 I moved to Worthing and re-established the station at my new address using the equipment above, but in the autumn of 1987 hurricane force winds ripped across the south coast of England, causing considerable damage to my station mast, and antennas. I managed to salvage enough to get the station back on the air, but in the spring of 1989 during more storm force gales my mast and antennas were damaged beyond repair. Discouraged and lacking finance I decided to pack the remains of the station away until I had more time and money for the hobby, and forgot all about it until 2006.
During the spring of 2006 I got the old equipment out of the loft dusted it off and started to rebuild the station, much to my amazement the old 2M and 70cm rigs still work. Now the station comprises of my old Summerkamp TS280 FM 2M transceiver feeding into a home made slimjim that is mounted 3M above ground, and Yeasu FT 780 FM 70cm handheld transceiver. And my new additions to the station: a Summerkamp 767DX HF multi-band transceiver feeding into G5RV mounted 6M above ground via an ATU, and an FDC 150A 2M handheld transceiver.

Pasé el RAE en diciembre de 1981 y recibí mi licencia y callsign de radio aficionados el junio de 1982. Establecí mi primera estación durante el verano de 1982 adentro Tonbridge, Kent. La estación en aquel momento era VHF y, frecuencia ultraelevada que abarcaba solamente de un Summerkamp TS280 FM transmisor-receptor de 2M que alimentaba en 5 un elemento Jaybeam montado encima de mástil telescópico alto de 10M con un rotor, y un transmisor-receptor handheld de Yaesu pie 780 FM los 70cm.
En 1986 me trasladé a Worthing y reestablecí la estación en mi nueva dirección usando el equipo arriba, pero en el otoño de los vientos 1987 de la fuerza del huracán rasgados a través de la costa del sur de Inglaterra, causando daño considerable a mi mástil de la estación, y a las antenas. Manejé salvar bastantes para conseguir la estación detrás en el aire, pero en el resorte de 1989 durante más vendavales de la fuerza de la tormenta mi mástil y antenas fueron dañados más allá de la reparación. Desalentado y careciendo finanzas decidía embalar el restos de la estación lejos hasta que tenía más tiempo y dinero para la manía, y me olvidé de todos sobre ella hasta 2006.
Durante el resorte de 2006 que conseguí el viejo equipo del desván sacó el polvo de él apagado y comenzó a reconstruir la estación, mucha a mi asombro los viejo 2 metros y los aparejos de los 70cm todavía trabajan. Ahora la estación abarca de mi viejo Summerkamp TS280 FM el transmisor-receptor de 2M que alimenta en un slimjim hecho casero que se monte 3M sobre la tierra, y el transmisor-receptor handheld de Yeasu pie 780 FM los 70cm. Y mis nuevas adiciones a la estación: un transmisor-receptor de varias bandas del HF de Summerkamp 767DX que alimentaba en G5RV montó 6M sobre la tierra vía un ATU, y un FDC 150A transmisor-receptor handheld de 2M.
